Maloney's - Our Story
Old Man Maloney
Old man Maloney was a wee man of great strength who journeyed to America from County Cork, Ireland in search of a better life and pastures greener. Always one for a story and a JamesonTM in hand, his boisterous laughter could be heard from miles around.
Night after night he told stories about the auld days from his favorite stool; until an outburst of laughter or a hushed anticipated silence fell over the crowd, allowing him to have a sip from his glass of Jameson before delivering the next line.
He told stories of hardships, famine, adventures and loves lost. In each, there was a lesson to be learned about the warmth of family, the strength of love, generosity and the determination of a people that even in the face of great famine, poverty and conflict always found time to laugh with friends and family.
The legend of his size was built by the passion with which he told his stories and the warmth of his smile. He welcomed friends into his home with a firm handshake and strong demeanor, his Irish values made him a friend to everyone.
Maloney, with the soul of an adventurer and grandfatherly eyes, was a friend to everyone he met. He lived life and loved to tell about his vast travels to faraway places, truly a man to share a pint with. His nightly toast was addressed to all, Slainte agus saol agat, welcoming everyone who walked in.
In this pub, we bring together the beliefs of the man and the spirit of the legend. We welcome you to our Irish home with an outstretched hand. No one is a stranger in the House of Maloneys.
